We acquired Smokey from our neighbors while we were still in California (June 10th, 1989). He lived a long and comfortable, suffering no diseases, until he died of old age on October 20th, 2006, at an age of over 17. We like to think that a cat should live for fifteen years if no diseases intervene, and anything past that is good fortune. Well, Smokey was one of our most fortunate cats!
